My Personal Doula Philosophy

I am Conquer Birth Doula.  This name came to me at the end of my beautiful doula training.  Each empowered doula in the room had the opportunity to say a word that reflected their observations and feelings towards our experience. Then we all added an herb or oil into a bowl of bath salts. We then got to mix it in using our energy and each of us took a jar home.

I've thought long and hard about what name would represent me as a doula and aligns with my values. While sitting in this circle we heard many beautiful words; empowered, courageous, enthralled, excited, and many more. Then my word came to me and it entered my head, exploding inside me like a little flame that was awaiting something to spark it into a raging fire. CONQUER.

"That's a bit intense," I thought. "That's a bit bold... That's pretty strong and old language...."

My next thought was simply...

Yes. Exactly.

Birth is intense, its bold, it reveals our strength, it takes up space and is as old as time.

Thus, Conquer Birth Doula was born.

Not because birth is something to conquer or tame, but because we hold the power within ourselves to be completely emboldened to CONQUER the universe and transform into a completely new and majestic version of ourselves.  

I believe this ability to conquer the universe through the transformation of birth has been stripped away from women over the last 150 years. 

Its our time to Conquer and Reclaim our Birthing Power.
